UK vs M'sia 1

I'm gonna start a new series of blog posts with a centralised theme so I sound professional.

It's about the trivial things I think of when strutting down the pedestrian paths of London on my very lonesome. I shall call this:

RULES IN THE UK THAT WILL NEVER APPLY IN MALAYSIA
No. 1

UK
When raining, seek shelter under a sufficiently large tree. You shall remain reasonably dry.

Malaysia
When raining, avoid trees to prevent getting even MORE drenched by gigantic ping pong sized rain drops. Also, under a tree, you may be struck by lightning.
(Kids are cautioned with this fact since primary school =D)

Or maybe......

Awesome Day!!

I'm sitting here, in the middle of the night although I have to be up and ready by 7am, composing this post just because I don't want to EVER forget this UNFORGETTABLE day...The irony of it. XD

It all started when Minh.......my FAVOURITE (and only) Vietnamese friend said "Hey, let's go watch Transformer 2's premier and meet Optimus Prime!", followed by a hearty "Hey, let's have a tea party tomorrow!!"

So with our advanced Information Technology knowledge, we googled "Tea in London". After carefully agreeing that we in fact are cheap bastards, we decided to book the cheapest seats in Odeon for 5.15pm and have tea in a quaint little place by St. Paul's Cathedral...
...called "Tea Ltd" (Surprise, surprise...The Ritz was our last choice...><) for our afternoon tea. ....And here begins our journey XD

We relied on the most efficient and quickest transport in London, and that is by foot, discovering places we never expect to see...
"A bank...!", we thinks...

"Sainsbury's HQ!!", we thinks...

"Amen Corner"...no doubt
Arriving at Tea Ltd (which took forever to find!), we ordered ourselves
  • 1 pot Silver needle white tea
  • 1 pot Dragon Well green tea
  • 2 Chocolate Fudge Cakes
  • 2 Rocky Roads
  • 4 cucumber and salmon finger sandwiches
  • 2 raisin scones with fluffy butter and strawberry jam
The waitress chuckled as she served our food. After consuming our scones and staring and the chocolate fudge cakes and rocky roads, we came to a mutual understanding as our mind synced to announce "TOO MUCH SUGAR!" What happens next, is too painful to relive. All I can say is that it involves another pot of tea (chamomile) and holding back projectile vomit. Never...again...

We left Tea Ltd and explored the area as we had time before the movie. We were lucky that day as there was a live band performing at the steps of the cathedral (Britain's got talent "Stomp" group, according to Minh) and a tiny children's parade on recycling. On the way to the cinema, we saw this!
Well, it's not the same guy and not the same place (got the picture of the internet), but it was the SAME STUNT!! A knife juggler balancing on a ladder!!

Then, we met Ian and Yeo Ming on the same grounds celebrities tread upon to watch TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN!!
I don't know what movie critiques think but me thinks it's one of the awesomenest movies I've sawed since...the last awesomenest movie XD I couldn't even sit back for the whole 2 1/2 hours in the cinema. I reckon it was sugar rush though...

Following that, we went to china town to buy 2 boxes of plain rice...(Obviously, we got weird stares from the waitresses again)...went back to halls, and made Vietnamese Chicken Salad!
"From the internet...again"
We microwaved raw chicken...Yeeup! Marinated it with random stuff overnight, and microwaved it to steaming perfection. Yummeh!

I'll tell ya what love is~

When you've been with someone for too long, (be it siblings, parents, marital partners, close friends), you'll develop the instinct and excessively strong urge to kill him/her.

Oh yeah...that annoying twitch that she does; or the shrilly, naggy voice that he has...the incapability for you to understand why he insists on wiping his bum with Scott's toilet paper rather than Comfort's.

You know you'll feel the instant relief you'd experience if you could just wrap your fingers around their throats and stop that sound coming from their mouths they call talking.

But you know what holds us back? Love... that's right...Love stops us from murdering that person who is forever super-glued to our lives.

If he/she ever asks..."Darling, do you love me?"

Well, if he/she wake up the next morning.....you can dignifyingly say "Well, I do believe I love you enough!"

Future home

Haven't got a bloody clue what to blog about...

Found a totally cool camera application on my laptop though! "I've found my twin!"
"Leazilla says "RAWR!"

Life is just a big mash of uncertainty, for the moment...

1) Where am I suppose to stay during the summer?! I'm gonna be stuck in London, all alone, working in Boot's...(Yippee?).

2) Where am I gonna stay during my second year in uni?! See...this is the kinda place I wanna live in...

Nice big, modern kitchen
Stylish bedroom...Or this one down here is fine too...I'm not picky XP

Clean bathroom...This one is even fit for sharing so one can poop and another can pee at the same time. Saves time, you see.

And of course, a cozy living room...

Why can't I have this basic luxury of having my own domicile?
I'm guessing...not enough whining and tantrums...Mom, Dad!! GIMME!!!!

3) Not sure if I'm gonna past my first year exams...=(
Had an extemporaneous drug making exam yesterday...the experience was like baking poison without any recipes!! I've walked around the lab and took a few pictures....Beware future patients..."Hi there, ma'am...Yes, your Kaolin mixture is almost ready...We're gonna fix your diarrhea right up!"
"Hello, sir! Here's the constipation drug you need. We've even sculpted it in the shape of poopies to encourage your defecation process"

"Valium you say, miss...Why, I make the best...Even tried some myself"

I just realised there's a lot of mention about faecal matter in this post...

Girls Night Out!

Sometimes, I feel like I'm living in a movie; a drama series more like!

I'm in London, baby!! (Joey in FRIENDS Season 4 Episode 23 ...now how do I know that??)

Here's what happens at lunch a couple of times a month...On a sunny day after lectures, my friends and I will go to a Korean shop, buy a takeaway lunch box and sit upon the steps of the British Museum savouring our hot marinated meat with steaming fragrant rice.
This picture does it no justice!

We'd let the gentle spring breeze blow in our hair as we let our food digest while tutting at typical tourists with their cameras. Okay fine, the temperature is still freezing and the winds are deadly, but what the heck, ei!

On Valentine's day, four of us girls (Jen, Cyn, Phil and moi) dressed up (as in...dresses, heels and dangly earrings...oh yeah...I was brain-washed!) went out for Italian at Carluccio's. It was oh-so-good. We had a three course meal with appetisers, a main course and delicious sorbets for dessert; we sat for 3 hours and went to a party with the theme...

...straight after. It was that night we dubbed ourselves (well, actually it was only me) the asian version of Sex in the City.

My main course of the night...

So far, we've had Greek at The Real Greek and Italian (again!) at Strada.
At the Real Greek, I discovered the....SOUVLAKI.
By the way, I am currently infatuated with hummus...XD

Strada served a mean seafood rissoto...

...and amazing parma ham pizza...Obviously, they were not called seafood rissoto or parma ham pizza on the menu. It was actually christened...Risotto ai Frutti di Mare and Parma Pizze.
Now doesn't that sound classy...! All we were missing was the matching wine!

Then there will be the 'sitting for hours long' after a meal time, talking about just anything, sipping complementary tap water or coffee, exactly like they do in TV!

All that's missing now is the romance so needed for a wonderful plot! Well, one girl down...3 to go!! Haha...

On another note! Due to the lack of a kitchen in our hall, we've resorted to cooking lunch in Phil's room with just a rice-cooker, a microwave and a kettle. DO NOT underestimate the power of these simple kitchen tools. We were able to produce mochi's, thai green curry, beef rendang, vietnamese spring rolls, chicken curry, tom yam with glass noodles, kailan in oyster sauce and many more other impossible dishes to come.

Ah~ the beginnings of wonderful friendships X)

P/S All pictures were taken off the net =( But they look exactly the same as what we had anyways!

dedicated to u, ronny~

Happy CNY guys....

Due to the exam period, I couldn't go out much, but I did go to this one CNY fair held at UCL's Singaporean society. Lemme just tell ya, there are a heck load of Singaporeans here in the UK, studying...I think the whole country moved here! And they know each other too!!

This is my Singaporean friend who is a super genius, EM1 type student (hint : i not stupid).

Guess what they're selling!!!

KAYA TOAST!!! Oh yeah~ for 1 POUND a piece !!!

SAGO drink!! For a whopping 1.50...POUNDS!!!

Kacang Putih (yeah, they mispelt it). Would u like a teeny weeny bag for 0.80p??

Caligraphy contest...See, he's not even chinese!

London's longest 'lo hei', so they say!
Well, that's done...guess if I'd bought anything...go on! NO~!! Haha....1.50 pounds for milo and 2.50 pounds for a mua chi is kinda too much...See, ron...this is why I don't have pictures of gourmet food like u have! Unless, u know...u come here and pay it for me ^^!! Honestly, I even think TWICE before I use a piece of tissue...GAH!! *wipes snot off on sleeve*
While I was slaving away trying to understand the stinking urea cycle or how non-visible (can we even say they exist!) electrons jump around on a piece of paper, my super duper EMI friend, Philana and a Cynthia (short intro: studying law at UCL, HKie, sweet!), went to bake some EGG TARTS!!! Egg tarts, I tell you...

Despite of the fun:work ratio pictures I have...believe me when I say....I only spent around 1/2 an hour at the CNY fair...and the next 2 weeks staring blankly at my notes and textbooks...
CHEMISTRY....I DESPISE THEE~~

Oh...and here's one for the CODE GEASS fans...LOL! Took a shot of this at the frozen section of a supermarket.
