The Hunger Games

is a deliciously addicting series of novels to read!

As thrilling as Malorie Blackman's Noughts and Crosses series, centred around political oppression and the hunger for justice.

An easy read but beautifully scripted which moves me to tears at some parts and sends adrenaline coursing through my veins at others.

Sigh....the awkward moment when you're done reading a really good book and realise your life is over.

And no, I have not watched the movie yet.

Erik's so adorable!

Yes, I do understand that he is a fictional penguin and real ones smell funny.

Anyway, I've been addicted to the song 'Under Pressure' by Queen. I heard it first from the musical 'We Will Rock You' and 'Happy Feet 2' before I heard the original. They are all awesome.

Um boom ba de, um boom ba da de

And just because these lyrics....

'Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for,
The people on the edge of the night,
And loves dares you to change our way of,
Caring about ourselves,
This is our last dance,
This is our last dance,
This is ourselves.

...are so much better than these...

If you cute than your crew can roll
If you sexy eat my Koo-Koo-Roo
Put ya cape on, you a super hoe
2012, Im at the superbowl
Stupid hoes is my enemy
stupid hoes is so wack
Stupid hoe shoulda befriended me
Then she coulda prolly came back!

Where'd all the love go?

Got myself a...

little black dress!
Sunnies were free...complimentary from the programme 'paint'

...along with a couple of vintage looking pendants. I legally own, through approved transaction of currencies, the bird-cage and high-wheel bicycle (Penny-farthing it's called. Bet you didn't know that.)

Communication

...is one of the many keys to a good relationship, ANY relationship.

Do NOT expect people to read your minds, no matter how truly close you are.

I mean, does this even make any sense:
"My boyfriend should know today is our 150th day anniversary. Why isn't he buying me flowers? *whine*"

Girls, don't expect your man to magically understand your feelings because...they just DON'T

Male pride gets in the way sometimes as well:
"She should well know I hate it when she talks to that guy. But I'm just gonna simmer in my own anger until she uses her telepathic powers to see that I'm upset"

Boys, we aren't psychic! We're not gonna know what's bothering you unless you tell us!

Don't we all wish we'd empathise and understand each other via skin to skin osmosis diffusion. That'll make life so much simpler.

I'm not one to truly understand another person's situation or reasons. Understanding just does not come that easily to me. I believe me my mind is, despite being 2 decades old, slightly under-ripe and immature. Confusing as some matters can be, we've just gotta learn to accept, have FAITH and move on.

Temperament observation

Over the years, I have evolved from being a super sanguine in my secondary school years, to a well-balanced person with equal amounts of all 4 temperament in my college years...

"Your temperant won't always be the same", was what Aunty Michele told us. It is very interesting to see how life pushes us to be the person we are now, and how we adapt to cope with life.

Today, I am a phlegmatic with a touch of 'sanguin'ity.

Harmonizer Pattern: Phlegmatic-Sanguine (S-I)

The Harmonizer is more friendly than the other Phlegmatics. They are very accepting and tolerant of others. This person is very accommodating and easy to be associated with in the work environment and as a friend. They need some social involvement. They are loyal, consistent and dependable. They will often work when they are ill. They are very independent minded and want to operate by themselves and set their own pace. They learn by doing. Once their mind is made up they will resist any other method of approach. They can do routine work but will need some activity during the day. They have a very difficult time saying no and will often take on more than they can do. They have a very pleasant, soft voice.

(Pleasant and soft voice my butt..).

I don't think I want to be this person, but I understand it is ideal at this point in time.

Who knows, I might be totally different next year.

This week

British Pot noodles...
...are DISGUSTING!!!

Spring make up collection...
...of Macs and Bobbi Browns

Consuming my collection of Pringles....
...while watching The Royal Wedding =)

Not forgetting Easter, the day of forgiveness and new life, the heart of Christianity.

Am blessed with the ability to forgive and forget, literally. A lesson learnt is to have all evidence terminated, as did Christ remove all our sins, and not to dwell on them.

So I ask for your forgiveness, for I have eliminated all evidence of your past and mine (literally, yet again). And I pray you have too.

Am composing this post as Prince Wills and HRH Kate ride in their horse-drawn carriage towards Buckingham Palace. What a day...

It's all about receiving!

Year 2010 has been pretty eventful, I must say, and *cue sentimental music* I...I don't think...I don't think I'm ready for a new year yet. It's just...It's just too soon. It's only been a week since I said goodbye to 2010. I'm not ready to commit to another year.

Ah...2010, you brought me much joy. Especially after a rather difficult relationship with the previous years...you...you helped me give life a chance again. I shall never forget the moments we have together, my darling.

Anyway, enough moaning. I shall now brag about the presents I got 'last' year. Whoever said giving is better than receiving is clearly a person who has never received presents, the hypocrite.

On my '18th' birthday (Well, you see, the candles marked 22 is clearly a mistake)

  • Lovely pair of earrings from Eric
  • Exciting Grow-your-own-peanuts box from Cyn
  • A beautiful chocolate cake...
  • ...and GAP hat-glove-scarf set from XiaoLi, MengNi and Claire

Moving on to Christmas...
Sing along with me....you know the song...

"2 Christmases ago, I gave you my heart...
but after a few weeks, you gave it away.
This year, to save me from tears,
I had my mother interrogate you before I started dating again."

Now let's talk about the stuff I got! Because we all know that's why you're still reading this.

  • Fluffy, red ladybug slippers and...
  • ...Cosy Vero moda knit sweater from Eric
  • Cute earrings from Cyn
  • Adorable Cupcake mug from Jen
But the most amazing Christmas present I got this year is to have everybody I love crammed in a tiny 2 accessible bedroom for 3 weeks with enough food to feed an army.

'Mom and Dad on top of Primrose Hill'

'New Year's Eve dinner with the family'

Now everybody's gone back to where they need to be, I feel so...alone. And exams are coming up, and I've got homework I haven't finished...and terms starting in a couple of days. Damn you 2011. It's only been a week and you've already started scroowing with me.

Geeky-ness taken to another level

Pasted notes all around my room cause I haven't got a cork board...

And of course, pasting the computer with post it helps...
(Click on photo to see how I abuse myself out of temptation)

Survived on frozen chicken, peas, chips and sausages for a week...

...So proud of myself for resisting temptation. XD

If I can go 7 days without the computer - sit from 9am -12am (!) at the kitchen table studying for 3 weeks - I can resist temptation for ANYTHING!

Yeah...ANYTHING!!!

when anti-arrythmic drugs bores me...

I deprived myself of my pc for 2 whole days it physically hurts!
The shower broke down for those 2 days as well...
Oh, the
agony!
Experienced tremors, slight nausea, general physical discomfort...
Oh yeah, definitely withdrawal symptoms.

Now how shall I waste more time?
Ah...one shall now brag about one's cooking adventures.
So far, my greatest (yet to be perfected) accomplishments would be:
  • Lemon grass chicken
  • Pamelo, mango and sago tong sui
  • Roast lamb/beef
  • Awesome fried rice
  • Various cakes, cookies, brownies and pies
  • Pancakes with beautiful fillings
Wish I took pictures now....
Shall be attempting:

  • Beggar chicken
Can't wait til Chinese New Year!!
Geez this is random...
Oh yeah, recent series I've been hooked on...Go on and watch, it's awesome! This song caught my attention in the first few episodes.

Flat Sweet Flat

Welcome to my humble abode, shared with 3 other flatmates: Cyn, Phil and Jen

Please remove your shoes unless you enjoy disinfecting floors on your OWN hands and knees after every visit to an Asian household.

Come through to the kitchen, as we do not have an area for visitors to lounge in (otherwise known as the reception/living room) due to our extreme lack of *£ka-ching£*

Do not be fooled by the luxurious look of the shelf and assume we have plenty, for the boxes and tins are empty...

By observing this cupboard, you can predict my dietary consumption for the next year: Cereal, cereal, more cereal, mustard, nutella...and then more cereal.

Next, ve 'ave ze bafroom. As ewe can seee, it iz beeutifooly decorated.

Finally, we have me bedroom. The smallest, warmest, cosiest room in me flat. XD There is a height restriction of 156cm to enter the room.

Me bookshelf of books I must touch

Me dad-made bookshelf of books I never touch

Half-view of me room

Me door-hanger thingy

Thank you for coming. I hope you've had a good time. Now, GET OUT!

~OCF Retreat 2009~

...Was someone's bright idea for the 7 of us to balance on a tree stump...

A failed jump-shot photo...except...

The pantry on the last day =D

Pain and sadness is inevitable in this world...But God's rainbow will always come after... =D
So don't stop singing, never let go His hands, and look forward for the better things in life He'll bring you.
