So...an old pal called and asked if I wanted to meet up for a CNY meal.

Despite exams looming, I said '好啊！没问题！'

She made immediate reservations to a restaurant of her choice.

I asked for the name of the restaurant to which she replied 'I don't know. It's too long. I'll email the link to you.'

The following describes my reaction when I saw the name of the restaurant in which we will be dining on Chinese New Year's Eve 2012.

Award-winning restaurant with 2 Michelin stars, who needs massive family reunions and unconditional love! *silent sob*

For starters: Salmon carpaccio

All the while staring at young, sexy chefs preparing our food.

So that was the night we stuffed ourselves silly with food to fill the emptiness that this city has brought unto us. Nevertheless, the effect was short acting and I returned to my flat longing to be in close proximity with my loved ones at 30 Brooke Drive, Rejang Park and Lim Han Swee. Yeeup...I forgot the full address for the other two residences.

It just occurred to me that I have learnt SO much during my time in boarding school.

My boarding school is the epitome of British...especially meal times!

For breakfast, we have your regular toasts, bacon and cereals. And then I was introduced to waffles. Oh, they're not your American or Belgian sweet batter waffles. These are deep-fried potato waffles.

Poached eggs! We don't do poached eggs in Malaysia. Why don't we do poached eggs in Malaysia?? They're delicious!

Of course every Sunday we have the full monty for brunch: fried eggs, bacons, sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, breakfast rolls, croissants and toasts.

And then we have lunch. Pork with apple sauce, roast beef with yorkshire pudding, stews of all sorts and fish and chips EVERY Friday. I love fish and chips every Friday. The Brits may complain all they want, but my school food was heavenly ESPECIALLY fish and chips on Friday. Mushy peas! Why aren't we served mushy peas with fish and chips in Malaysia??

Granted, they may sometimes look like baby sick, but they're absolutely yum-dilly-icious!!

The salad bar was an adventure itself! Rice salad...as an Asian who eats warm, fluffy rice as a staple, I was appalled with rice salad! Grains of dry rice served COLD with corn kernels and bell peppers. ABOMINATION is what it is. But I also discovered the joy of smoked mackerel, pickled gherkins and chicken caesar salad tortilla wrap. Mmm....

Then comes dessert. Sponges with custard, fruit pies with rich cream, trifles and one I have always found so very odd...The cheese platter. For months, I always wondered why they served various sorts of cheese (philly cream, cheddars, brie) alongside grapes and apples as well as different types of crackers. What was this strangeness?? Cheese for me goes in sandwiches, burgers, pizzas! Not with a celery stick and so ta pia!

Mulled wine is another label I learnt in boarding school. Never have I heard, seen or tasted mulled wine until my uni years. It's a concoction of citrus juices, zests, spices and wine warmed to bring the flavours together. I think it smells wonderful.

Flapjacks...chewy, delicious and oozes with butter. But after I've learnt of the buckets of butter poured in to make the thing, I've avoided it like a plague.

I miss my old boarding school. I miss the excitement of facing something new each day. But it's okay. This time next year, I'd be in another phase of my life learning more.

Yes, I was almost obese during my time at boarding school.

Having the new year in the middle of the academic year really reduces the overall awe and impact. Anyway, got back into the habit of baking because I've been craving the sweet stuff.

The lack of flour and butter is not 'cause I'm tryna' watch my diet, but just 'cause I couldn't be bothered to buy 'em. They were goooood anyway.

I've dressed my kindle up nice and snug in a mock leather jacket.

...and fed it with fairy tales and trashy novels to take me to fantasy land.

Take on 2012? Challenge accepted!

Christmas

This is the FIRST ever Christmas I spent on my own and it's not too bad, actually. No distractions in having to please anyone and total concentration on the true meaning of Christmas...Jesus Christ.

That aside, I've treated myself to a little shopping spree and got a new wallet/purse from Ted Baker's new range, Sweet Shoppe. Loving it so far!

Halloween marks the end of October and the beginning of sweet, sweet November!

Yes, I carved that on a single pumpkin the size of a 'sepak takraw' ball. Well, not so much carve as STAB with a blunt steak knife.

On a totally non-related matter, I have finally come to love my new tiny studio flat and it's starting to feel more homey. I was planning to have it decorated in a cosy, country cottage-styled theme; but that failed miserably as I tend to over-do on colours. So I suppose I'm stuck with the pre-teen slash crazy-hoarder look for the year.

Obsession of the year...WICKED

I've seen a number of musicals, and each one NEVER fail to impress me.

Wicked was...IS amazing! I could watch it over and over again. It's a musical which will cause you tear up with both laughter and heartbreak. Oh..and the romance! *Sigh...* If ever in doubt about musicals, start with Wicked! *Excited shiver*

I've always been familiar with the author of Wicked, Gregory Maguire, who has infamously written a number of twists to common fairy tales including Snow White and Cinderella. He is truly a mastermind and Wicked is definitely a notch above it all.

I've added one of my favourite songs from the play "For Good" sung by the original American casts...

10.00am: Time to get ready for the first lecture of the day..and I'm excited.

Oh no no no...it's not the brain-numbing ramblings of my professors which gives me the high, but the fact that I'll be able to cycle to uni which stimulates me brains to produce lovely serotonin shots.

10:15am: Wrapping myself up with a bobbly beanie, gloves and a scarf to protect my already damaged skin from the chilly wind.

I can't believe how much I enjoy cycling to and fro in London. Sure, there will be the occasional near misses of crippling accidents from massive double-decker buses or speeding sports car drivers, but hey...every enjoyable activity has their risks.

10:30am: Unlocking my trusty second-hand Dahon Jack D7 from my flat's railing whilst nervously checking if the front wheel or seat have been stolen. Nope, they're still attached.

Within minutes, I'm on the road whizzing past vehicles stuck in the morning jam and singing Christmas tunes (slightly aware that pedestrians may be able to hear me). It is just the most amazing feeling EVER! If I haven't any other reason to get up to go to uni, this will be it.

I love how cycling's so much faster and RELIABLE than public transportation (curse you, tfl!). I love the cold wind in my face. I especially love the fact that in 2 months, I'm gonna have a pair of fantastic gluts.

10.50am: Gliding towards the front entrance of uni in a slow-mo, reaching the finishing-line-of tour-de-france-manner with 10 minutes to spare.

Life is good.

Although, speaking of Christmas...it wouldn't hurt to wish for a cute bicycle as per the one below...

This very morning, I woke up to the little voice in my head debating (not in a schizophrenic way!) about human virtues.

I suppose this thought threaded from the remnants of my past incidences with my ex-flatmates and I started to wonder what is the right way to raise a child, how do we teach them good characters, what IS the right sort of characters?

Of course, we could teach children manners, morals, culture...but these are all subject to the society they belong in, which could easily bring conflict between citizens from different cultures (of which I experienced).

Then, that very same voice gave me a simple realisation...'The fruits of the Holy Spirit'! THAT would be the way God wants us to be raised and act.

Love . Joy . Peace . Patience . Kindness . Goodness . Faithfulness . Gentleness . Self-control

It doesn't matter what the world thinks of you. The world's not gonna give you the ticket to heaven.

Makes me happy 15 =)

Today marks the day I live on my own in a tiny studio apartment.

Today, I scrubbed high and low, in and out, and fueled by chocolate milk.

Today, I banged my knee up so many times I've got a whole constellation of bruises.

Today, all I consumed was 2 muffins and a piece of bak gwa.

Today, I got a job offer in a UK hospital.

Today (No, it was yesterday), I was invited for an interview at a London based hospital.

Today, I was reminded that when God has a plan for us, He opens doors so wide that even when our eyes are closed, we'd find the way.

Do not think for a moment God is ignoring you when things don't go as YOU planned. He has very great things planned for us, and He's constantly nudging us in the right way.

Today, I don't know what my future will be like...but I know I will do great things with God, in God, by God.

I love reading...

In one of those columns where they'd ask for your hobby or interest, I'd say reading, not 'cause it's generic or to give good impression. It's cause I really, honest to Betsy, LOVE reading.

When I pick up a book I really enjoy, I will be so absorbed into the story. My mind and emotions roller coaster parallel to the moods portrayed by the author. I feel myself mentally transported away from real life and actually become part of the story.

Now, I know the books I read are trashy, crisps ('cause they're junk, unhealthy and non-educational). But my chosen books are ones I desire to feel at that particular time.

If I felt adventurous, I pick up a Sci Fi by Philip Pullman, CS Lewis, JK Rowling, or any other random author.

When I wanna feel loved, I pick up a romance novel by Meg Cabot, Sophie Kinsella, Melissa Hill, etcetra etcetra

If I wanna challenge my mind and emotions, I tend to go for Jodie Picoults, Dave Pelzer, or any autobiography of a person's challenged life.

Sigh....reading's awesome.

New era...again

Sometimes, you surprise me. Pleasantly.

On another note...

This year is gonna be another adventure for me and a cross of my bucket list. This year, I'll be living on my own. Den den den! In the beginning, I was tremendously petrified of the idea but I suppose it has settled in quite nicely.

No more bill splitting between flatmates, and in my case, managing the entire household bills!
No more strict flatmates and their strict rules.
No more disapproving looks from flatmates when my family stays over.
No more treading around carefully to avoid flatmates' discontentment.

The last couple of years have been very...eventful, I should say, for my flatmates were not very...flexible. All is forgiven (on my side anyway) and I'm just glad it's all over.

Nevertheless, I am quite excited about the prospect of doing my own thang in my very own crib! ...despite the fact that it's just at tiny double bed studio >< (Pictures up soon-ish!)

I suppose it'll give me more time to reflect on my own priorities instead of getting influenced by other people. My parents are very happy indeed (despite the increased rent) as I will be bully-free for the remainder of my university year.

Despite the troubled feelings of uncertainty of what is to come and the possibilities of many (MANY...) lonely nights, I do feel quite relieved of not having to deal with the responsibilities of having flatmates. And truly, we are never really alone. God (and Jesus and the holy spirit) are always in our hearts, mind and soul.

It's sad how there are very few people we can count on, including those close to us.

I'll always try to be on the better end of the line but it's always disappointing when everybody's counting on you...yet you can never count on them.

It's also a pain to be the responsible one of the lot (which means doing all the work) yet still get accused of being immature and childish.

I'm half glad I won't see those 'friends' anymore...

On the brighter side, I am also surrounded by genuine friends and family who would go to the world's end to help me out in my troubled times.

Ah...another taste of bitter disappointment. When will it ever end?!

It is times like these I sometimes wish I could perish in some way just to punish those who take me for granted. As my mom used to threated us, "What if I die tomorrow, huh, and you blew me off just to watch tv/play pc games/etc"

"Oh, take me now for my existence means nothing to people on this earth!" is what my heart is screaming.

But ever so subtly, God is whispering "My child, I still need you here to do my bidding."

And that is why I haven't recklessly jumped in front of a car (preferably a beautiful Mercedes M class) or fall into a pile of infected needles.

But mark my words, understanding I shall be, but there are limits. I can always choose NOT to be understanding.

Lesson for all: If you expect someone to be understanding, make sure you walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Remember, it always takes two to tango and you're better safe than sorry.

I think that should be enough cheesy proverbs for the day.

Here's a basic English lesson. We shall be learning about the annoying properties of a "flaky person". That's F-L-A-K-Y, like a serious case of dandruff.

A flaky person is someone who is not reliable or stable. They tend to make commitments they can't keep and change their mind rapidly for no apparent reason - says reference dot com.

Example 1: Damn it, she's promised to meet us here right now but she just called to cancel off! (Flaky person alert!)

Example 2: Darling, I know I promised to take you to Disney World today but I'm feeling a tad lazy. So yeah.... (Flaky person alert!)

Oh yes, people *with US minority attitude* you better believe there is a name for your condition. Mm hmmm.... *finger snaps to add drama*

Advice for flakers: One could only take so much flaking before getting fed up and dumping your sorry, flaky assicles. Unless you're friends with a saint, stop the insanity!

Solution: Stop making promises you can't be bothered to keep, huh!

P/S Malcontentmentness probably isn't a real word... Assicles isn't one either.

Terror beyond belief

...that is natural childbirth....

Today is the third time I have witnessed these procedures and they are everything but beautiful. I would happily sit through 10 mastectomies over the expulsion of a child the size of a bowling ball through a hole the size of a golf ball.

Strangely, it is only this time that I felt the physical effects of shock and trauma. First came nausea, followed by the draining of blood from my peripherals. I literally felt the blood from my head drain away which left me cold, clammy, light headed and my vision faded.

Yes, people. I was close to keeling over and fainting. The horror!!

Kudos to all mothers who went through that nightmare of a procedure.

Of lists and inspirations

I'm a list-maker. In fact, I have a whole booklet dedicated to making lists: movies to watch, groceries to buy, places to visit, tasks to do for the day. And the delicious feeling of satisfaction when crossing off the written items just soothes my heart.

Today's inspiration came from the video below...

I want to be that man flappin' like a mad chicken in all those different places. I want to explore, be adventurous, live life to the full and knit each experience together into stories I can tell my grandchildren.

Right in the middle of the video I had a lightbulb moment. I should make a list! A list of things I want to do, places I want to see, adventures I want to experience...so I'll never forget. So I can cross them off. So when I'm older, I won't look back and regret the times I should've done them, but never did. My own bucket list.

Slipping into peaceful existance

Currently, I'm in a state of ignorance and mind-numbing peace which I wish to record to remind myself of this...lovely feeling.

Am I on drugs, I hear you ask. Oh, nearly so. Stashed away in my drawers are sleeping pills for long flights which I have been intending to use to calm my sleepless nights brought upon by stress, paranoia, nightmares and the dreadful summer heat. But no, I haven't taken them yet.

It's that final realisation that your life is not meant to be permanently bound to constant pressure, pain and disappointment.

For example, exam times, which everybody can relate. As the dates draw nearer, I grow increasingly panicky, frantically trying to cram every single last detail into my exhausted brain. Sleeping hours grow shorter, anxiety attacks become more frequent. And then, right at the last moment, I drift into a welcoming state of calmness. I like to call the this moment the 'f*ck-it' state. The weight just lifts of your shoulders because you know you've done the best you can. Or more crudely put, I don't give a rat's ass any more.

That's where I'm at right now, but not as a consequence of an exam. This is the aftermath of an argument. Oh yes, the 'f*ck-it' state applies to most any stressful event. Like any physiological system, the process can be staged. First there's the adrenaline rush of anger followed by a dull stress fuelled with corticosteroids due to or lead by sadness and disappointment. Finally, we reach the 'f*ck-it' state.

In this state, I am mentally screaming with a haughty air "Bring it on, world! Do your worst!" Because I really don't give a *beeeeep* what happens.

This batch was made with 'Tie Guan Yin' loose tea leaves.

Mmm...Edible tea =) Refreshing with a subtle perfume-y fragrance

Before I forget, perhaps I should try milk tea jelly served with evaporated milk or sweet coffee jelly with evaporated milk...No WAIT...coffee jelly with a splash of Baileys...*drool*

I've been seeing the 365 thanksgiving project going around and thought of starting one myself. After letting the clockwork in my head tick a little bit more, I realised that I've already got my own! 'Cept I called it 'Makes me Happy =)'

This week, it's gotta be...

...the love that fuels my way up Primrose Hill...(although that love requires constant feeding with free meals.)

Am proud to say I successfully baked a peanut butter and jelly brownie-like cake. Deliciousness! Thank God for baking =)

Last but not least...thank GOD I get to see my family this summer.

Temperament observation

Over the years, I have evolved from being a super sanguine in my secondary school years, to a well-balanced person with equal amounts of all 4 temperament in my college years...

"Your temperant won't always be the same", was what Aunty Michele told us. It is very interesting to see how life pushes us to be the person we are now, and how we adapt to cope with life.

Today, I am a phlegmatic with a touch of 'sanguin'ity.

Harmonizer Pattern: Phlegmatic-Sanguine (S-I)

The Harmonizer is more friendly than the other Phlegmatics. They are very accepting and tolerant of others. This person is very accommodating and easy to be associated with in the work environment and as a friend. They need some social involvement. They are loyal, consistent and dependable. They will often work when they are ill. They are very independent minded and want to operate by themselves and set their own pace. They learn by doing. Once their mind is made up they will resist any other method of approach. They can do routine work but will need some activity during the day. They have a very difficult time saying no and will often take on more than they can do. They have a very pleasant, soft voice.

I don't think I want to be this person, but I understand it is ideal at this point in time.

Am blessed with the ability to forgive and forget, literally. A lesson learnt is to have all evidence terminated, as did Christ remove all our sins, and not to dwell on them.

Every meal time, I sit in front of my PC, intoxicated by Nigel Slater, Heston Blumenthal, Jamie Oliver, the Hairy Bikers, Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall or amateur Youtube cooks...and watch them do their THANG...Mm Hmmm...staring at their sexy blistered, hands massaging a piece of sirloin steak gets me going!

Korean Kimchi Soup

Obviously, not thoroughly authentic...Flavoured with fish stock and kimchi with some prawns, spinach and japanese tofu thrown in.

Roast beef Salad

Simply home roasted chunk of beef on a bed of store bought salad. I devour my meat with Jamaican raggae raggae sauce. Yah, man!

Quite a success, if I do say so myself! Fluffy and moist sweetened lightly with a bit of honey.

Depression is taking its toll on me.

Often, little things amuse me. Cat strolling by, flowers blooming along the road side, blue skies, cooking, people watching, fat dogs...It doesn't take much to make me smile.

But that doesn't mean my life is peachy.

I have a friend who hates me to my guts and makes it her mission to inform people of my flaws behind my back.

My self proclaimed best friend easily abandons me for more popular people or for herself.

My college mates and M'sian friends are busy with their own lives.

My family back home are leading their lives without me.

The sole person I claim love from has no idea how to love me.

It's not like I haven't tried my best. I've turned my cheek and received a great deal of slaps. I've loved them as much as I love myself. I've offered everything I own to be used as their own.

It feels like I try so hard but I get nothing in return. Isn't love a basic human response?

Am I less important than a piece of exam? Am I just a tool until needed? Am I just a sideshow for the more anticipated main? Am I just plain unlovable and worthless to those around me?

If I could be in a state which I wouldn't care. If it could just happen now...quick and painless. If everything could just fade away.

French Onion Soup

Painstakingly sliced onions and caramelised onions, de-glazed with dry white wine and simmered in beef stock...Deliciously fragrant but onions could do with more caramelising.

Mini dinner rolls

Needs work...failed to produce the crispy crust I so adore and under seasoned.

Japanese Melon Pan (similar to HK bo lor bao)

Delish! Soft, milky flavoured buns (although a tad dry and could be fluffier) wrapped in a sweet, crispy pastry crust.

Cooking is my antidepressant, my relaxant, my LSD, my serotonin and dopamine stimulant... If only I could be better.

Made meself a couple of sweet, juicy, pork and beef Parmesan meatloaves slathered with a tangy glaze...Mmm...

'Tis my 2nd time making meatloaf and I think it's just DELISH!

Now who else do I thank but American television for introducing this wonderful dish into my life. God bless America.

I've also tried making American-kids-camp style Sloppy Joes a couple of times using http://foodwishes.blogspot.com/2010/03/sloppy-joes-recipe-video.html 's recipe. Amazing!

Never again will I doubt the magic of reasonably priced ground meat and their ability to produce mouth salivating delicacies.

I've also mastered the art of making Chilli Con Carne with any edible ingredient that can be found in my flat.

Dreams and Ambitions

At that age when I started having crushes, but just before steady dating, I used to daydream about unadulterated romance: sappy love songs, fireworks, bunches of beautiful flowers, cosy picnics, exaggerated declarations of love, rooms filled with helium balloons, love letters, radio dedications, weekend trips away...

At that age when I started having to choose a career path, but just before experiencing life changing failures, I had huge ambitions of being at the top of the professional society; well respected career, multiple degrees, PhDs, top results in education, world class universities, above average income...

Looking back, I wonder what happened to that drive of wanting to be a cut above the rest. Failure has left me settling for a probable career that I have no passion for; to settle for average results; to avoid risks in my relationships.

I AM studying at a wonderful university, averaging at 2:1 without much effort, high chances of employment with a steady income and in a stable relationship despite the lacking spontaneity and oomph.

Should I be content with what I have?

Or should I

...strive for a first?

...register in various different countries as a Pharmacist?

...travel the world before concentrating on my career?

...apply for a place at a cookery school for a year?

...find my passion?

...be more spontaneous and romantic?

Shouldn't my personal development be showing an exponential growth instead of plateauing?

What is this crazy thing, hah?

I've just completed the most excruciation 3 months of my life; what with exams (MPharm, not to be taken lightly. It'll chew your bones out), home-sickness, and house-hold conflicts.

I'd say the last month was another test of my faith and to bring me back into letting God take the lead of my life.

I had that much to MEMORISE...

...within 3 weeks.

A couple of my closest friends in London turned against me due to some misunderstanding;

I missed my family;

I was quite sure the world hated me...

Suicidal thoughts made way to my mind;

I found no pleasure in eating food and would rather starve then cook;

I felt weak and exhausted every single day but still had to study from daybreak 'til dawn (In my terms, 9am til 2am).

I'm lucky I have mom and Eric smacking me in the face and telling me to stop depending on myself and to rely on God - to not please the people of the world but to only please God; to place my burden on God; to find peace and joy knowing Christ has saved us.

One day, I decided to dust off my bible and turned to a random page. This was what I saw:

Mark 4:40 - He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"

Afraid I was! Of losing my friends, of being alone, of failing my exams, of being not good enough, of getting dumped again. Oh, there were so many things I was afraid of...And I'm pretty sure it wasn't a PMS episode.

I decided I've had enough of this. I prayed, and prayed and prayed and gave my whole heart out to God.

I gave my best shot with the exams. And I kid you not, 90% of the materials I focused on were tested!

I stuck post-it messages on the walls and baked food (pandan cup-cakes and cheese puffs) for my flatmate in hope that they will see that I am sincere and honest. I was accused of many things and words that came at me were harsh. But I learnt not to judge anyone from their actions and pray people around me will learn the same.

Matthew 7:2-5 "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."

Despite having still a slight aversion to food, at least I'm making lunch and dinner dates with old and new friends to catch up.

I'm glad God missed me and decided He should do something about it so I'll go back to his open arms. =) And it does take a lot of chiseling for us humans to become more Christ-like.

Woke up with an excruciating pain in my abdomen which lasted for the whole morning... cold sweats, nausea, dizziness, shivering, black-outs, the works...leaving me begging God for mercy and dangerously close intentions of calling 911 to give me a jab of pure, unadulterated morphine. Dysmenorrhoea's a b*tch.

Waited for a parcel that never came.

Waited for an electrician/plumber to fix the showers (that spews either freezing cold water or scalding hot water) and my broken ceiling lamp (getting too comfortable studying in the dark), only to find he'll be showing up tomorrow instead.

Way behind on my studies and pretty sure I'm gonna fail this term without God's graces.

Feel so exhausted today for no apparent reason (...may be due to writhing in agony half the day).

Then came a phone call which brought up every other crappy emotions: distrust, embarrassment, anger, sorrow, doubt, envy, neglect, worthlessness...

Damn the evil concoction of hormones that creates a soupy mess of chemical imbalance within my delicate circulations...every 28 freakin' days!

And hey, it's only 5.45pm. Let's see what else is there to come.

Year 2010 has been pretty eventful, I must say, and *cue sentimental music* I...I don't think...I don't think I'm ready for a new year yet. It's just...It's just too soon. It's only been a week since I said goodbye to 2010. I'm not ready to commit to another year.

Ah...2010, you brought me much joy. Especially after a rather difficult relationship with the previous years...you...you helped me give life a chance again. I shall never forget the moments we have together, my darling.

Anyway, enough moaning. I shall now brag about the presents I got 'last' year. Whoever said giving is better than receiving is clearly a person who has never received presents, the hypocrite.

LIST OF FACEBOOK POSTS THAT WEIRDS ME OUT

1) Of course, the one which describes daily faecal consistency

"Hm...Tis slightly runny and yellowish today. May I have your medical opinion, fellow facebookers?"

2) Description of nasal mucus and phlegm resulting from a cold which includes the colour and viscosity...urgh

"Aiya, why so green and sticky de! Oh no, it's all over my hand!! Aiyo, I accidentally ate some!!!"

3) Revelation of most recent disease despite the need to keep it secret to prevent nauseating the public. e.g. diarrhea, act of emesis, phlegm producing coughs

"I've got explosive diarrhoea! Help me...><"

No, my ex-facebook friend, I'd rather not.

4) The need to tell the world that one is suffering from minor ailments. E.g. runny nose, sore throat, a simple cold...However, have yet to seen one about athlete's foot or genital thrush. Have they still got a little bit of shame in them to reveal that? Will be waiting for that post.

5) Posting the same camwhored pictures of oneself. A few is absolutely fine. But after the millionth one, I suppose it's safe to say you're not very imaginative. You know the one.

6)The one when a greeting (e.g. birthday) is directed towards a person who is NOT a facebook user.

"To my beloved great great grandmother (who probably won't even know this greeting existed), Happy Birthday and I love you!"

The world of facebook has liberated our minds (and mouths) to announce every little detail in our lives. If facebook was brought to real life, it'll probably go something like this...

You're sitting in the middle of class. You felt an itch in your nose. You blow your nose onto a piece of tissue and hold it at arms length to observe. Without hesitation, you shout "Hey guys! My snots slimy with a tinge of green. What should I do?" And then you sit back down and wait for your various pals to inject you with a dose of sympathy.

Ah...I feel better now.

Please take note. Yours truly is not trying to offend anyone in particular. My sincere apologies to those who believe this post is purposefully aimed at someone such as yourself. And also my deepest sympathy.

Imperfections are a total bugger...my internal organs twitch at the sight of things that are out of place. A cup left out by someone, unwashed dishes in the sink, pens that are not arranged according to size, colour and usability.

So of course, every time I see myself in the mirror, I need to fight the urge to jump off a tall buildilng...in hope of convincing the surgeons who are realigning my spinal cords...to rearrange my face to look more appealing and to reconstruct my disproportionate body to look like Kate Moss'.

I was a clumsy child (still am, actually!). I am left with unattractive scars all over me. But thank God, I was given the ability to walk, hop, run into lamp posts!

My hair is a mass of tangled twigs that not even birds would consider fit as their nest. But thank God I'm not bald! No offence to the principals of Methodist Secondary School...

I have crap metabolism! A piece of fudge will require a 10km marathon to burn off. Otherwise, they'd just conveniently convert their sugary self into fat globules and settle in places I don't even think is appropriate to mention.

You know the process....But thank God as He has provided me with food on my plate and water to drink.

I hate having to wear glasses/contact lenses all day. But thank God I have the gift of sight! And one day, maybe the gift of lasic surgery from my parents XD

I absolutely LOATHE being short and chubby. It destroys me knowing that I will never be
perceived as beautiful...Even buying a pair of pants causes dilemma and so much pain...knowing this or that girl will look better in it and I'll just look like a lump of potato.

...not the most attractive thing in the world...

It's really, really difficult to be thankful...especially when living in a world which prizes beauty and material above all else.

But then, there was this ONE man who was willing to die for a lump of potato like me. So, I will live for Him, and for Him alone. So, in your face, world!

So every Sunday, I dress my best, knowing I am heading for a place that I will not be judged by anyone. I try my best to remember that I am worthy enough for God's love and sacrifice.

Got great seats to Mamma Mia for a really good price. Theatre, NOT movie. It was WONDERFUL! Highly recommended if you love great music (if u're into ABBA), wonderful performances and an interesting plot with a touching ending.

It was just after dinner, the 4 of us were sitting at the dining table sipping our concoction of baileys irish cream, hot cocoa and coffee.

We were discussing our experiences as volunteers to feed the homeless. It was then we realised how lucky we all are: having supportive parents, having a roof above our heads, being able to spend money to buy our much needed daily fix of baileys.

We often forget how blessed our lives are and that God is always providing.

So...I shall remind myself by posting the little things that makes me smile each day. Which will be a couple of times a month XD

But for today, it's.....

1) Eating peanut butter and banana on toast

2) Revising and making notes for 5 hours straight...well, only at the end of it. =D

3) The ending of 'Never Been Kissed'...ever so sweet ^^

2 days ago, my mom broke the news that her cousin, Sarah, passed away last month.

...it was a car accident in Hong Kong....

Although I barely knew her, I've heard lots about her. She was only 30. She has an amazing dad whom I call Singapore Kong Kong...someone I look up to.

Sarah's practically a stranger to me but the shock of this news was tremendous. The first person I thought of was my great-uncle. The grief he is now experiencing must be unbearable. Being a doctor who saves hundreds of lives, but having no control over...this...

I can't explain how crushed I am right now and how close I am to bursting into tears. What if it was someone closer to me? What if I wasn't there with that person? What if the last thing I said was 'catch ya later'?

Thursday - watched avatar =D ...in 3D...again

Friday - created sconkies (a chocolate cookie/scone hybrid)

Saturday - started F.R.I.E.N.D.S marathon and hung out with my bro...

Sunday - went to church for the first time after a VERY long time

Monday - forgot what i did...probably wasn't very productive... tee hee

Tuesday - went to the London aquarium ... beautiful day

... freaked out by sharks

Wednesday - went shopping ... got more knitting stuff... started knitting... quit knitting... finished sconkies... made choc chip cookies =D

Thursday - Made bao and had a girl's night out at a fancy restaurant...mmm...pheasant...

Friday - finished Thursday's bao... made more bao

Saturday - girlie shopping day out... had home-made hotpot with a rice-cooker ><>

TOMORROW! Sunday - Happy Chinese New Year and Valentine's day to all those I love! (L)

I deprived myself of my pc for 2 whole days it physically hurts!
The shower broke down for those 2 days as well...

Oh yeah, definitely withdrawal symptoms.

Now how shall I waste more time?

So far, my greatest (yet to be perfected) accomplishments would be:

By observing this cupboard, you can predict my dietary consumption for the next year: Cereal, cereal, more cereal, mustard, nutella...and then more cereal.

Finally, we have me bedroom. The smallest, warmest, cosiest room in me flat. XD There is a height restriction of 156cm to enter the room.

As I sit here during this ungodly hour, shivering in the bitter cold, my thoughts cannot help but to drift towards what has happened over the year...

I entered university
I went clubbing for the first time
Someone told me that he loved me
We went to Paris for the first time
I dated, comforted and loved
That someone left me shortly after
I cycled around London
I got my first job and pay check
I went to Italy with my parents
I bought my first bike
I rented my first flat and do chores *gasp*
Used to be proud to say I couldn't cook. Now, I'm even more proud to say 'I CAN COOK!'
A year ago, I sat with that someone at the audience watching a christmas performance.
A year later, I'm on the same stage performing, looking down at the audience and thinking it's okay that he's not there.

OCT 2008

1) Learn to do a hand stand! - FAILED!
2) Show off my hand stand everywhere I go... - FAILED!! duh~
3) Stick to one church which I find most comfortable - Nearly there =D
4) Be consistent at going to church, uni's Christian Union and Overseas Christian Fellowship meetings - PASSED!
5) Go to the gym at least 5 times a week and attend the classes - FAILED!
6) Wear clean socks and 'try' to shower after gym - Well, I do after jogging
7) Stay awake during lectures. Yes, even if it's Chemistry - FAILED!
8) Continue to play badminton despite that I am a dissappointment to the team - So So
9) Destroy my ego and improve badminton skills with help from ANYONE - PASSED
10) Try to sleep before 12am - FAILED, obviously, 2 am now
11) Wean myself off jellybeans and foods with sugar level of similar toxicity - PASSED! 'Cept for chocolates
12) Stick to hot chocolate and toasts EVERY breakfast, just to proof I can - PASSED for a few months
13) Tell the world that I eat bananas now! - PASSED
14) Delete all sorrow and keep my life busy - PASSED
15) On top of all that...do my assignments and pray I pass the exam - PASSED my first year!

But, after reading and further investigating this particular type of epilepsy, I realised I may actually suffer from it...

Petit Mal Seizure (recently known as Absence Seizure)

Occurs mainly in young people
Brief loss of consciousness (10 to 20 seconds)
Blank expression
Spacing out
Eyes may roll up
Person is not aware of 'absence'
May be triggered by boredom

Yeeup...happens to me everytime I sit through a lecture.
